Instructions for membership

The Membership is open to surgeons who have high professional standards and
whose activities are orientated towards clinical practice and research in endocrine

Contribution to the pertinent scientific literature will represent a major criterion in
determining membership.

The types of membership are
1. Active members are the original charter members and other members
subsequently elected, whose centre of life is in a European country or who at least
spend most of her/his surgical activity in a European country, provided that their
membership fee has been paid.
2. Corresponding members are surgeons working outside Europe who have
equivalent qualifications to active members. They have no voting rights nor are
eligible for election as officers. They pay a reduced membership fee.
3. Junior members are surgeons in training under the age of 35 years who are
elected. They have no voting rights nor are eligible for election as officers. They pay
a reduced membership fee.
4. Honorary members are individuals who have made outstanding contributions
to the discipline of endocrine surgery. They shall have no voting privileges, are not
eligible for election as officers, and do not pay membership fees.


Applications forms (eses_application_form.pdf) for active or corresponding membership are available on the official homepage of the Society, can be downloaded and should be sent electronically to the Secretary.

Candidature for active or corresponding membership must be supported by at least one member of the Society who co-signs the application. Completed application forms must be delivered to the current ESES Secretary (Maurizio Iacobone; by the candidate at least 3 months before the next meeting of the Executive Council (January and before a workshop/biennial congress) . A copy has to be sent to Karin Knob, secretary of the “ESES Vienna Office” (

The curriculum vitae and a complete list of publications have to be sent by e mail to the Secretary and to the ESES Vienna Office.

Candidature is reviewed by the Membership Committee (members see “ESES Officers”) which decides the acceptance or rejection of candidates after individual discussion. Accepted candidates will be confirmed by the General Assembly.

Candidates recommended for election may be provisionally accepted at a meeting of the Executive Council subject to confirmation at General Assembly during the following biennial meeting.


The Membership Fee has to be paid by active, junior and corresponding members.

The Membership Fee for active members is Euro 80.-/per year, for junior members Euro 40.- /per year and Euro 70.- /per year for corresponding members.

The annual fee has to be paid till March 30 of the year. Any member whose fee remains unpaid for a period of 2 years will lose her/his membership, provided there has been a warning from the Treasurer at least 3 month prior to its effective date. The member may be reinstated on approval of the Executive Council following payment of the dues.

Fees for ESES congresses and workshops are reduced for active and corresponding members if all membership fees are paid.
